Nope, sorry, we are still working on the first Octane 2020.2 plugin builds. The new Octane core features like all the user passes, scattering nodes, OCIO, etc, are difficult to implement on the plugin's side, but in any case, I hope to have the first build including at least the new core and some of these features before the end of the month, in one or two weeks.

Sooo... I know you are busy and all, and really do appreciate your hard work, but it's becoming a bit of a meme, the infamous 2020.2 houdini build that will never arrive The ETA of (likely end of this week, maybe next week) clearly didn't work out... to put it mildly, so I'm curious if there anything specific holding it up or things just wasn't as easy as expected or what are we looking at? this side of xmas or in the new year? it's fine if its "late", but would be great to get a just single line of update every so often

Sorry, implementing some of the new Octane 2020.2 features on the plugin's side is taking longer than expected, but in any case, the first build including the latest Octane 2020.2 RC5 core will be released before xmas.

Will octane in Houdini work on it?

It should work fine in Octane 2020.2. Have you tried the latest build?
