I can confirm. This has been happening to me for a while - been meaning to make a post about it. Sometimes the model loads in despite the error and other times not. Have to go into Blender Cycles or Eevee to import an OBJ without error.

Hey crackfox - while I sympathize with your frustrations I have to defend this program. I have been using it since its inception and it is really more stable and functional than ever before. I do believe the devs are doing a great job. Yes, there are always going to be things that might not work properly and I have had my share of hair-pulling, time-sapping issues. As 3d artists the agility to execute workarounds is an unfortunate, but common necessity in a landscape of complicated software. That is why the forum is so important. So Otoy and other users can become aware of these issues and address them. And Otoy does seem pretty responsive. I do wish though that I had been more proactive in making a post about the OBJ glitch, but other things always seemed more pressing.

hi pegot,

i appreciate your view and even agree up to a point.
however something is wrong with my blender octane that goes beyond the regular quirks. i have been yapping about it for ages now.
denoiser just seems to not work at random (some reported of it, its acknowledged by otoy) but rendering itself is much slower than expected. i tried to document it but forum is not the place to report these things.
support is taking it seriously (it seems) but that does not help me.

only when i tried octane in unreal engine i have realized how fast it is. in blender its a nightmare. in unreal its completely different experience. superfast.

just these couple of days i was lighting some scenes. as i go along octane becomes slower it seems.
i reverted to e-cycles and the difference was ridiculous.

the cycles version took 30seconds but even after 10 it was great.
octane sampling takes minutes and never actually cleans out.

here are a couple of examples. just sketching out a scene, no materials or anything.
the lighting varies but the the changes are minor really. even at higher sample counts the denoiser cant produce a clean image with octane.

the bugs are just a cherry on the top.

We should really find out the reason why your experience with Octane for Blender turns to be so negative. Maybe it may depend on your particular hardware/software configuration.
Octane for Blender is faster or at least as fast as E-Cycles is in my experience (and according to other users).
Octane for Blender should be as fast as Octane Standalone or Octane for Unreal. This really makes no sense, and I'm really sorry you have to deal with this odd and very unique situation.
