Hey folks,
So from my understanding the RGB value sampler in the LiveViewer got removed in one of the latest 2020.1.x . It essentially got replaced by the canvas zoom in and zoom out function. All good and dandy but I'd like to start a discussion to bring back the RGB value sampler as I can't help but think it is crucial in a lot of the more "precise" workflows.
It is useful for a lot of things including getting proper white balancing, matching footage tones and making sure the colors that the client specified are on point.
Sure, you can do all that in post without a doubt but you've got a lot more steps involved. For example, you tweak the white balance -> copy to picture viewer -> copy to post production software -> figure out the values there -> go back in C4D -> tweak things -> rinse and repeat.
When we had the RGB sampler thingy things were much more effective as you simply needed to check the values in the LiveViewer -> tweak things.
I realize that the canvas zoom in and out is important and honestly I really like it but I don't think something like the RGB value sampler should be omitted just like that. It is crucial for when you want to be accurate and maybe having it tucked away in a right-click menu would do the trick just fine honestly.
And as far as the important of it goes, I think its fair to say there is a reason why pretty much every renderer has this functionality built in.

Ah, perfect! Thank you for the heads up! Super excited about it
I suppose in retrospect, sorry for wasting your time on this one. Should have double checked the release notes for 2020.2 .
Keep up the good work!
