Hey everyone!

Simple problem with no solution so far. I'm looking to shade a VDB sequence with just two colors, a base and an outline. However I can't seem to find a way to force the toon shader to handle this.

Any ideas?

Did you, by any chance, find a way of using the Toon Shader with VDB? Or is it possible to achieve that look with an OSL Shader?

This would be extremley helpful and great - pretty much anything would help.

You cannot use the Toon shader with VDBs, since it works only with geometry/polygons, but you can work with the Medium node to give them a more cartoon look like this:

Basically you need to play with Volume ramp, in both Scattering and Emission.

Going the C4D Volume Mesher - Volume Loader path makes the whole toon shader of vdb experience a lot less painful, I have to say.
