Hey guys, take it cool ! R&D is not a simple task, and things will come with some patience.

When you make some vegetables grow in your garden, it is useless to pull the leaves of the carrots : they will not grow faster ! ;)

I really feel bad for the developers... I have great doubt that it can be very inspirational to see these demands everyday.

I think only that this absence of news is not a good sign...I don't want the v6 immediately because v5 is great but some news and a new roadmap are welcome

Come on guys, even Microsoft with thousands of programmers won't divulge the "expected" date of their software release unless the software has passed various stages of their QC tests. Even then they still miss the deadlines of the actual release date.

Yea I know we all want Octane version 1.23-880 three weeks ago with fireflies solved and no issue with the net licensing scheme. And everyone of us has customers we have to satisfy, but still, let the Octane team do their work. The team has always communicate with the licensed users about their development hiccups and alternative solutions to overcome the problems. Examples are the MLT algorithm which failed to reduce fireflies and being replaced by a new algorithm, and also a new licensing scheme which will enable non-internet users to use the software uninterrupted. Now that a new kernel is being rewritten to take advantage of the new 3.2 CUDA toolkit, it'll take some time for the core engine to be stabilized. When they are ready to spill the beans, they'll do so and let us all know the latest news. Just let them do their job for now.

The Octane team is very dedicated to bring the promised version 1.0 to the licensed users. Dedication like that can easily beat an army of coders any time. Let them do their job, and we all will get a top notch world class gpu renderer.

Geez guys, give them a break. Some people seem to have short memories, it was only a few weeks ago that the user base pressured refractive to release the next version and in the end we were presented with a product which was a little less than ready for use. This in turn led to a lot of scathing and negative comments from disgruntled users. Seems they were damned if they did and damned if they didn't.

I for one am quite happy to let the team do their work without the hassle of being pressured to put out a the next release. I am sure I speak for all when I say that I'd rather have a product that is rock stable and bug free (does such an animal exist) rather than one that's been rushed out the door to placate the needs of an impatient few.

my two cents worth.
Regards,

Mathurin

Maybe what we need is a list of things to expect in version 6. At least we'll have something to gear up for. Something to salivate over.
