Fine here.. check your on 10.15.6 also which DCC? ALSO remember to replace the octane stand alone.. and make sure to log into that first..
AND i had to open system prefs / security and do the whole approve bit a few times for both the install and had to reboot my DCC a few times to get everything "allowed" - I wish apple did this in a less clunky way.. ALSO i needed to update C4d S22 to latest build too so check for updates!

C4D. I'm loathed to sign up to a subscription when I was supposed to get a free one with my Mac Pro – and now it looks like everyone gets one with Big Sur. Also can't believe the RX580 isn't supported, but typical penny-pinching by Apple shoving it in as the base GPU. Upgrades, upgrades, upgrades. Expensive business this.
I guess my wait for GPU rendering continues until the Autumn. Sigh.

Yeah.. guess they had to cut off GPUs from somewhere. but kind of surprises me they didn't at least include the shipping GPU of the base config.
I have been subscribing for a while no. so no difference for me. just finally get to update my os an move on.
I can only use my internal GPU for now. Waiting for BIG Navi anyway..
hmmm just realized.. "BIG" navi and "BIG" Sur - interesting... related? hmmm

Right. Signed up for a month. Activated the RX5700 XT and am getting renders! The 580s show up, but don't seem to be supported – ho hum. No worries, they're going anyway at some point.
Actually, Octane is working fine now. I guess the next step is to move the RX580 back into my old Mac Pro and sell it, then get myself a serious GPU.

Note - the Octane X plug-in for C4D should be run on R21. Ahmet noted instability in R20 and R22, so that's the version to test. Same with Maya 2020 and Sketchup 2020, those are the versions to to use with Octane X. I'll note this in the FAQ.
I'm running R21 (because R22 doesn't sound production-ready and I'm not paying again until my MSA runs out!). So far Octane is behaving itself. The 5700XT feels like my old GTX980Ti used to (maybe faster? Hard to tell). But I'm also loading scenes that would have brought my old system and previous versions of Octane and the plugin to its knees – huge buildings with Megascan assets. This feels much more stable already. Would love to be running it on some Radeon Pro Vega IIs!
LOL! Then it crashed.
