Hi

I'm having trouble figuring out how to make Octane use the materials I specify in Octane when I'm doing an animation. My work flow is as follows. I run the plug in inside Max 2011, press render, set up the materials in Octane and save the project.

I go back in to Max and start the animation to render via the plug in, but then Octane will just render with the Max materials.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a known issue?

Hi,

Yes I don't think it works like that currently. I believe your Max scene materials are translated via the exporter and used for the render. I think you may have trouble if you can't get your Max materials to export to Octane as you want them (which i think should be possible for most normal materials). But I can't say I'm an expert on this work flow. I'm sure there are some gurus out there who can give you some very good tips.

Hi Skeletor,
1.23.x seem to have interrupted the connection between the plugins and octane
check this thread for a workaround:

ciao beppe

P.S. would be very useful if the next version would allow plugins to directly create the material nodes

Okay so it works if using nodes for the materials? I'll give that a try later today

Thanks guys
