Render Passes never finishing in C4D 21, Octane 2020.1.R7

Hi all, we are having some issues with a project that keeps processing the render passes, but never reaches a completion or either crash or freeze.
THe workstation has a quadro 5000, with the most recent nvidia studio driver.
We are using cinema takes and saving the files with $take to capture takes names.
Any idea what could be happening?
