Hi,
got a bad error and cant go on with my work.
C4d was rendering an image sequence. all was fine, then it just stopped rendering (frame 150). no crashing, just no more blowing fans and a not moving status bar.
so i saved the project and made a computer restart. from then, i get the render failure message every time i start the octane preview window. the log sais cuda error 999 on device xx: unknown error -> failed to link to cubin and so on for all 8 devices.
then i open the standalone version. same there. render failure. same on net render (when i render from mac where the render pc is slave)

setup: render node: 4x 1080ti + 4x 1070ti, nvidia driver 26.21.14.3200 (date 24.07.2019), cuda driver 10.20, i5-7400 3.00 ghz, 24GB ram, windows 10 (1803), octane 3.08 regular license

then i made a windows update to 1909, nvidia to 26.21.14.4128 (date 12.11.2019). but nothing happen..same error, same log.
after this i disconnected all cards. only one 1070ti card in pci slot. same error... i swapped the cards...same error...

after 6 or 7 hours, i am dead! deaaaad! i have no idea anymore. i installed version 4.0...same errors....
meanwhile i ve lost one license because of back rolling the system to 1803..

any idea what else i can do?
i am afraid of a complete system re-install, because i am kind of pc "newbie" since 30 years :-D its just my render node.....
i was so happy that this system runs so well for years... untill today

any help would be great
thanks!

ugh.. and where do i find a 4.05 c4d download?

after hours and hours of pain......
the error 999 issue is solved BUT i knew why i was on 3.08. once i work in c4d timeline, octane just freezes. once i make some tweeks in octane settings: it freeeeezes.

so... pain goes on, i am tired :-(

i reallyreally wonder why everything worked fine until today.

btw: 4.5 doesnt work on my mac because of cuda version.

thanks and good night

Hi,
please go to Apple menu, About this Mac, then press the System Report button, then go to menu File/Save, and share the resulting .spx file, thanks.
ciao Beppe

hi,
seems like my head was a bit boomed last night, so i have to make clear:
working on my mac is perfect. but it has to be version 3.08 because i am running an older system where cuda is too old for octane 4. cant upgrade the mac os, because of all my other importand application on it (never change a winning team!).

the issues in are on my render machine. i worked on the project also in c4d on this machine to continue other work on my mac.
and for now, the mac is "out of game", because i have octane 4.05 on this pc installed.

if i had a wish, i would love to have a running dusty 3.08 back again. :geek:
