Hello,

I'm in the middle of a big project involving tons of clouds and I've encountered weird issue

Image

Octane handles VDBs really well (the speed, the look, awesome!...) but this one persistent issue has been troubling me for a solid week now and I have no idea how to remove it.

Thanks for any kind of help!

Hi,
you need to set the same exact Step length value for all the overlapping volumes, to avoid artifacts.

Yeah I've tried that aswell and still the same issue :(

If you wish to see the behavior for yourself you can download the project + the vdb file here https://we.tl/t-MVfQT87Dw7

Side note: the VDB is baked from TurbulenceFD plugin, so the boundaries might be glitchy because of this? I've never encountered this glitchy issue while working with Volume Builder for example

Sorry, I have not tried your scene yet, but please note that there is an issue in 2020.1 SDK about overlapping volumes, already fixed for the next SDK.
So, while waiting for the fix, do you mind to try with 2020.1-RC4, or 2019.1.5-R3?
ciao Beppe
