I finally figured out enough Blender-fu to get an ivygen model loaded to the same scale as the model it grew on, so I got to play with translucency/transmission. I'm not sure I've quite sussed the transmission channel yet, but here are a couple of renders of the same scene with and without it. I'd like to have some transmission on a glossy material (wet leaves?) but it doesn't seem to be possible unless I've missed something. Maybe mixed materials can do it - not looked at those yet.

20 minutes, 51 seconds with transmission. Some sort of green in the transmission channel, nothing scientific. And yes, I know it's overexposed. I like it that way :D
