Gah! We're so close now. Assuming OctaneX for is on parity with the latest releases, this should be brilliant. Just hope it's a bit more stable than my previous experiences of running Octane on an Nvidia GPU under macOS in C4D. Which, basically, wasn't stable at all.

really? I didn't have any issues with nvidia on high sierra. still painful they dropped support for macos.
Well you were lucky then. I was running a GTX980Ti and very rarely could I use Octane in C4D without it crashing repeatedly. In the end I gave up and switched to AMD cards so I could upgrade the OS. But I'll be happy to be rendering with Octane again now my machine has multiple GPUs!
As expected really. Roughly twice as fast across the board as my 12-core 2.93GHz MP. A few minor issues with OS Catalina (but then who doesn't?), and some instabilities with the 5700XT, so I'm still driving my trusty old LED Cinema Display with the RX580 – I hope 10.15.5 solves this too. It's great that I can shove up to four GPUs in it, while really the old machine could only cope with one powerful card. I have 64GB RAM and a total of 13TB storage including Time Machine backup. Just waiting for a GPU-based renderer now...
