Not necessarily an Octane question directly but just got this model from Turbosquid and wanted to play with it in the renderer. The obj comes in jagged like the left image. When i add a subdivision surface it becomes too smooth and neither look like the original model over grey.
Any suggestions on what i could adjust in the import settings or afterwards?

Your Phong angle is a bit low. Try somewhere between 30 and 35 degrees. On a model like that, you can probably even crank it up to 180 and it should look fine. You shouldn't have to use any subdivision.

I am having the same issue.. and not sure how to fix it, when I import my clothing into c4d as obj or fbx , in some parts i get that jagged edges, like in this example that I attached, my phong was 180 , i tried lower as well, but didint do any change. tried subdivision, that didint work neither.. if you have any idea please let me know how can I fix it..
