Hey neonZorglub!

Unfortunately, it did not help.

What I tried:
- the Octane user config file was deleted, new one was created on start
- I tried even to delete all ENU folder - no changes
- I set an option for logs generation in Octane cfg, but no logs files appear
- no plugins installed
- 2020.1 demo crashed the same way
i7-4960K 4.2Ghz, 64Gb RAM, GTX1080Ti + GTX1080 + TitanX
+ x5 i7-4Ghz, 16Gb RAM
Win10, 3dsmax, Vray, Octane, Blackmagic Fusion, Unity, Fusion 360

Thanks for those tests.
The first log (and log file creation) happens just after Octane library is initialized.. So no log seems to indicate a crash during this initialization.
Other things I can think to check:
-Do you have Octane Standalone 2020.1 installed and does in run normally?
-Do you have enough storage on your C drive ? (there is an automatic update / download of Cuda / fbx libraries during this initialization)
-It could also be a Cuda driver issue.. maybe try different ones, a little older ? ..
-If you have several GPU, maybe disable all but one, in the device manager .. as a temporary check..
-Did you try any of the 2020.1 release candidates (RC1 to RC4) ? any luck with those ?
-Can you confirm that 3dsMax works fine after un-installing Octane plugin and also fine with 2019.1.5 ?

Is the displacement toggle now working in this version?

Could it be causing this...

Also this repeats every update. Think it's to do with an Octane daylight used for a background when the kind is set to visible and type is set to texture.

Also, what does this mean? It comes up even though I'm using clay mode.

RTX is shown still as "experimental" in Devices Tab.

Also the fog stuff is not working. I posted on forums some time ago and also sent paride a sample file.

Last thing. I get pitch black models in viewport more often comoared to older versions. No materials there. They are still shown in Materialeditor and as soon as I open the viewport to render. But not in the viewport I work and model.

no way it's impossible. Eventually you could fake it using the transmission.

Sorry, the 'experimental' is just the text on the 3dsmax plugin side that I forgot to remove.. will be fixed in the next release.
It is not experimental anymore, as can be seen in the OctaneRender dialog (button 'Octane Device Settings)

I noted some black model display when the shading setting of the max viewport is set to User defined / has Lighting and Shadows set to 'Illuminate with scene lights'.. I checked some older versions of the plugin, it was also black in this case..
There might be some other reasons that meshes in viewport appears black, but try to set the Shading setting to Default..
Also, in Octane Global preferences, the Tools menu has a 'Refresh materials and textures in max viewport' command, that could help in some cases..
We'll look info the fog issue you mentioned.

I can get the preview window to open, but it closes out with an error as soon as I move the perspective view.

I'm assuming it not matching my 2x 2070 Super correctly? My scene is fairly high in memory use and I use Out of Core to get the preview to load without error.
