I hope you are all safe and well.
Is motion blur possible on Alembic files in any version of Octane Blender?
Thanks.

Octane can render motion blur in Blender, sure.Whispermode wrote:I hope you are all safe and well.

Hi Lino - how so? I'm unable to make it work on alembics (specifically) with the internal motion blur - it either crashes or just doesn't do anything...linograndiotoy wrote:Octane can render motion blur in Blender, sure.Whispermode wrote:I hope you are all safe and well.

Are you talking about subframe motion blur (...that takes 5 times longer to render)?
Thanks.

...I've just realised:
motion blur doesn't work when the number of vertices in the mesh changes over time. So, a fluid simulation for example, imported as an alembic.
Can you confirm that's the case, and if there's a solution or fix (on the horizon)?
Thanks.

If there are motion vector information stored for each object in the sequence, Octane can render it.Whispermode wrote:...I've just realised:

I'm afraid we have some kind of limitation in the current Blender version, since FLIP Fluids option that allowed to store motion vectors in the simulation is not there anymore (the developers said that's because of a Blender limitation).
Does this limitation also exist in Blender's internal new Mantaflow fluids?linograndiotoy wrote:I'm afraid we have some kind of limitation in the current Blender version, since FLIP Fluids option that allowed to store motion vectors in the simulation is not there anymore (the developers said that's because of a Blender limitation).

Mantaflow offers the Use Speed Vectors option for that.pegot wrote:Does this limitation also exist in Blender's internal new Mantaflow fluids?linograndiotoy wrote:I'm afraid we have some kind of limitation in the current Blender version, since FLIP Fluids option that allowed to store motion vectors in the simulation is not there anymore (the developers said that's because of a Blender limitation).
Right now Octane is not using the provided motion vector information properly. We'll look into that.

So on this, Lino - are motion vectors data within the mesh itself, or render pass/texture level?linograndiotoy wrote:If there are motion vector information stored for each object in the sequence, Octane can render it.Whispermode wrote:...I've just realised:

Motion Vectors are stored in the mesh.

Could we get a tutorial on this. I'm also having issues getting the baked motion vector data to work with Octane in Maya/Standalone.
