Hello,

I'm working on the ACES workflow.

My houdini's result isn't good.

For exemple in Houdini : Gamma 1

In Resolve (for the same render) : EXR linaire >> IDT : ACEScg / ODT : SRGB

Does the current octane render 2020 work on ACES ?

Many thanks,

As far as I know currently the ACES workflow only works in the exported EXR files. The IPR rendering or the rendering to MPlay doesn't support this feature yet.

Hello Jaunjo,

Thanks for your response.

I think is the priority for now. If we don't look the ACES transform in the DCC, we can't work on the lighting properly.

When will you uprgrade octane plugin ?

Best regards,

I think that this is a limitation on the Octane 2020.1 core. The ACES option is only available in the function that exports the EXR files. Do you say that there are other Octane plugins that can work with ACES in their IPR windows, for example?

Thanks,

Please check this article :

https://thevfxdesk.com/2019/04/14/color ... ii-acescg/

The viewer of Hodini is ACES ready like Maya. This color managment worklow works with Arnold render, renderman, red shift, Mentra and Karma.

The ipr of octane must be 32bit float on ACEScg gamut.

This is the professional way for cinema production pipline.

Can you please interged the ipr of octane like red shift ? In Panel View. The actualy floating windows isn't user friendly.

Best regards,

Benjamin

A new Qt5 based IPR window compatible with the Houdini panes is a planned feature in the short term, but this is not going to resolve the lack of the ACES preview until it is available in the Octane core. I suppose that the full ACES workflow inside Octane, including Standalone and plugins IPR previews, will also be supported soon.

Meanwhile, you have also the option to run the Octane IPR inside MPlay. You can configure that in the plugin options panel. The MPlay IPR has some missing features, but you could use any color configuration supported by it.

Hmm, sorry, I didn't understand that. So do you say that the MPlay color correction functions don't work with the images rendered from Octane? This is really weird!

Thanks,

Yes Exactly, I've tried both Octane IPR and Mplay and in Mplay the ACES menues don't do anything.
That's why i've decided to adress this issue in the first place.
