Hi guys,

Does the blender 2.8 octane addon support the 'MIX SKY TEXTURE' so I can use the sun light from the daylight system and mix it with an hdri as I would in cinema 4d. I can therefor see the sunlight/sun itself and match it to the sunlight in the hdri?

Yes, you need a "Daylight Environment" node, then plugin a "Image Tex" node into the "Sky Texture" pin. Then load your HDRI into the texture node.

Thanks mate, I did that but however I cannot see the actual sun disc from octane, I can see the daylights result lighting the scene but not the actual disc.... I don’t have cinema with me on the computer right now but I’m sure I could see the disc and position it to the hdri sun disc too. Just the actual sky texture changed and had influence over the global lighting.

No the sun doesn't show through the HDRI, it really would be nice if it did. The best of all worlds would be if the sun could show up as a Blender overlay.

mmm, i wonder who i need to speak to about this because these are cinema 4d screenshots and it is incredibly helpful to have it implemented into the blender addon. Any ideas whom I speak to?

It's possible in Blender plugin:

I understand this part. But if you look at the images i uploaded previously from the cinema 4d screenshots, there is a sun disk visible through the hdri which is the octane sky daylight systems sun disc. Having this visible aids in matching the sun from the octane sky to the hdri much better. In blender there is no sun disk from the octane sky visible through the hdri like in cinema 4d.

Yep you are right. I when i deleted the ,texture environment node' and pluged the hdri image texture straight into the sky texture i saw the sun. Great, thanks.
