While using the Octane Node Graph in the Belnder plugin it would be useful to be able to transfer and save any changes made there back into Blender. Currently, changes made in the Node Graph disappear once the window is closed and a new render view started.

The ability to save changes made in Node Graph would be especially useful for Spectron Lights, which can only be used in the Blender plugin as proxies. However, their parameters are fully accessible through the Node Graph and update in real time through the viewports.

I tried right clicking in the Node Graph to save the Spectron node as a new ORBX package, hoping to reload that as an updated proxy. While the exported ORBX with altered properties imports into stand alone fine, it does not work as a proxy in Blender. The only way the proxies work in Octane Blender, apparently, is by using the "Save as package" function from the Octane stand alone File menu.

Could this “Save as” function be integrated directly into the Node Graph window? Or, since "Save as" from the file menu does produce working proxies, could saving ORBX files via right clicking on a node export them in the same way?

If this is possible, I imagine it would have to be coded into Octane core. If it was though, I believe many of the other DCC’s could benefit from it as well.

Right now the process is not bidirectional, due to SDK limitations.

You can use Area and Spherical lights in Octane for Blender, no need for proxies.
