I'm trying to tilt the top of this inverted pyramid so that it looks like the second picture here. https://imgur.com/a/CA5HZEj

I know this is incredibly basic but I can't seem to figure out the right search terms to find a video that shows how. It's probably something that takes 2 seconds but I've been working on it for 30 mins and the more I mess with it the wonkier it seems to get. Any help appreciated!

Not really an Octane question, but what the heck? Beginners welcome! :D

To do it without any risk of distorting the rest of the pyramidal cross section, you might just want to slice off the part you don't need. Start with single poly faces to make it a lot cleaner, and do any subdividing you need after you've got the shape you want.

Here we have:
Inverted pyramid rotated 45 degrees
Pyramid sliced from the side view with Line Cut tool
Extra faces deleted
Hole filled with Close Hole tool
Final object with subdivided faces

There are certainly other ways to accomplish the same thing, but this is pretty straight forward method with no fiddly bits.

If you're not worried about the pyramid distorting, you can simply rotate the top face. To do that more accurately, select the face, then the Enable Axis tool and Rotate Tool. Use the Enable Access tool and Rotate tool to rotate the pivot by 45 degrees (hold Shift to snap to precise angles), then disable the Axis tool. Now use the Rotate tool to tilt the face. This will squash the cross section of your pyramid, but that might not be an issue for its intended use.

Either way, starting with single poly faces is a lot easier.

Good luck!
