thashisho wrote:Hello,

Thanks for the update it's really amazing how fast this was released. I have started testing the new update and I've an issue. I have a scene with two objects total polygons is around 18 mil. Once I launch IPR from inside Houdini, the IPR window comes up and after a very short while it crashes Houdini. I tried to look at the log file but could not spot any issues. If I hide disable any of the two objects, the IPR works fine with no issues. If I have both objects, the IPR crashes Houdini. I'm running on Centos 7 with all updates and nVidia 440.44 driver. My machine has two 2080TIs installed. I tried rendering the file also using RedShift, Mantra and Arnold with no issues at all.

I'm also running the Octane Standalone 2020.1 RC1. Anything I can do to solve this issue?

Thank you...
This problem will be fixed in the next Octane core build. It was caused by an issue in OptiX.

Thanks,
-Juanjo

here's my houdini.env:

Code: Select all

# Octane
OCTANE = "C:/Octane_2020.1.0.3_Houdini_18.0.348_Win64/bin"
OCT = "C:/Octane_2020.1.0.3_Houdini_18.0.348_Win64"

PATH = $PATH;$OCTANE;&
HOUDINI_PATH = $HOUDINI_PATH;$OCT;&

Thanks

Is there any news on when we will see the physical camera stuff in Houdini? it feels silly that it's not already a thing in this day and age.

I'm still working on it. The problem is that this node has not been implemented using the conventional Octane nodes system, it is a scripted node graph that must be implemented hardcoding it in the plugin's code, something that is a nightmare :(
