Hey there,

I just downloaded all files and followed a tutorial on how to start with Octane in Blender. For some reason though I cannot open the "Device Preferences" in the Octane Render render settings and the rendering is stuck on "Waiting for image". I changed the environment to Texture Environment and applied an HDRI. Anyone know about this issue or am I missing something here? Thanks for your help...

Hi,
at the moment you can’t out of the box.
You need another PC equipped with Nvidia GPUs:

or you need to go back to High Sierra, and use an eGPU box via Thunderbolt 3, I personally work everyday with an iMac 27" 5k 2017 with Thunderbolt 3 eGPU 2x 1070, under High Sierra.
Note that it is necessary to install a custom script, and some precautions, so let me know if you are interested in this solution.

Please, also note that we are going to introduce Octane X, in next months, to definitely solve all this kind of issues switching from Nvidia CUDA to Apple Metal under OsX:

and here for more details:

When ready, we will be able to render directly with AMD GPUs in Catalina natively, without custom solutions.

ciao Beppe

Did you ever get Octane to Render on MAC?

I'm trying to use on an iMac running Mojave and I'm having the same issues.

Hi,
you still need High Sierra 10.13.6 + CUDA 410.130 + Nvidia GPU to be able to use Octane on Mac.

ciao Beppe
