Color gradient mapping problem

Hey guys.

Im not sure if I do gradient right. Im doing everything as its mentioned in documentation but there is still problem with my mapping.
Im wondering why is it set by default so bad. What should I do to get right mapping for gradient of any shape?

Are you familiar with UV texture space, or projection mapping? It's a very broad topic, so without some specific idea of what you are trying to accomplish and your level of experience, it's very difficult to give you any meaningful feedback.
