Hello,
I was wondering how I can change the interpolation type for curves for fur rendering.
When using the Houdini self tools for hair generation, there is an option for "Display as subdivision curves" which smooths the hair in the viewport, but is not reflected when sent to Octane.
Please see attached screenshot.
Thank you

Hi,
Octane doesn't support any kind of interpolation for the curves rendering. They are always rendered as straight lines between the control points, so if you need to smooth the hair curves you are going to need to add more points to the curves, probably at the SOP level, because the "Display as subdivision curves" only affects the viewports but not the underlying data retrieved by the Octane plugin.
Hope it helps,

Yes, perhaps, but this is something that must be added to the Octane core. The plugin could try to subdivide/smooth the curves itself at the extraction time, but well, this makes no sense, because probably the Houdini native tools are going to do it better.
