hi,
regarding david's issue.

If the licence agreement issue is a fact, Maybe a refund policy could take place. I don't know.

For me, I love the way octane develops.
Guys octane is something different. You did want to be a part of it in the first place.
Did anybody see the lack the speed of iray with our single or dual GPU units.( Im not talking about the 32 paralel tesla connection tests.) The holy Nvidia himself is behind MR. and they also keep their steps little by little. I know this is not the place to compare the packages. But bear in mind that what happens here is simply history. Maybe octanerender won't evolve so fast. Maybe some other firm will come up and vanish all these..

Please pay a little respect and know the BETA regulations. Maybe you should have reconsidered purchasing it in the first place.

I you feel teribble about the Octane Live than demand for a refund. I not possible than forget about your 90€.
I think refractive software does what it can do. And if everything goes right. It will be perfect.
I consider my self as a supporter to a group where they create something that hasn't been done before.

I'm not near to any developer nor refractive software. These are my simple thoughts a single licensed customer.

Cheers,

I am sorry but beta or not beta, it was a product that was sold through internet and in regards of the laws it's the same. According to the licence I bought Octane final in advance at a reduced price, the guideline of the developpment was well established. There was a licence agreement that the developpers of Octane had to follow, nowhere they said that they would change Octane to Octane live so that internet connexion would be required in the future. Now as for the respect you talk about, there are laws indeed that any developpers of sotware have to respect if they want to sell it. I am sure that if we had knew this in advance, some like me would not have bought it.

Indeed I can ask for a refund, this is my right, before the European and New Zeland law, as a customer since the original licence agreement was not respected and cause me from time to time not to be able to use Octane.
Others than me have asked for that but as far as I know no answer was given by the developpers.

So may I ask again : can I get a refund ?

I see your point. You might be right if you stand and await for your rights. No offense, really!

I personally will be waiting to the end of the process. I believe there are people like me who loved to share a great community and be a side with pioneers.
90 euros for what we've seen so far isn't that much. Besides it is evolving.
After all one maintenance failure shouldn't turn us crazy. That's my thinking of course...

So long !

Man You're totally lame.. the license was supposed to be like an investement for the future version like 2.0 which will be higher priced, and this way you get it cheap. It is more like an investemenet and a way to help the independant developers. I have bought the rendering engine Artlantis which was like 5-8 times more expensive and I regreted that, it is crap compared to this, but I didn't go asking for a refund because nobody does it. Save octane for later. Or sell it to someone.
Not sure but I think you can't ask for a refund on an iPhone application either - if it can, can someone inform me on that. Man that was 5$ badly spent.

Some respect please !

This is totally false, the real thing was
The beta version of Octane Render will be priced at 50% of final release cost. This will allow user’s to start using Octane Render and enjoy all the benefits of the lightning fast renders and interactivity now, and having a full Octane Render Version 1.0 license at a much reduced rate.
As for the hardware requirement :
Octane Render requires a CUDA enabled NVIDIA video card. An up to date list can be found here http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_learn_products.html

If you are interested in purchasing a new graphics card to use with Octane Render, the Geforce GTX470 or GTX 480 currently have the best Performance to Price ratio.
No question of internet connexion requirement here.

And this
Currently implemented features in OctaneRender, features marked with a '**' are planned for implementation in the upcoming v1.0 Final release. Features will be added throughout the V1.0 Beta period.
nowhere in the "**"it is spoken about an Octane live with internet connexion requirement.

I know my right as a customer, but for now I am waiting for a fair solution from the part of Radiance in response, I hope.

You guys are so needy and annoying.

The second Octane encounters a small problem, you act like it's the end of the world and Refractive has terrible service all the time.

Get some relax ! You can clearly see they're doing the best they can.

You're like bunch of bitching kids ;) It's perfectly fine to complain, but not in such unreasonable way ! You're not entitled to anything, it was your choice to buy it as a beta !

Ps: Why is it allways the french who are loudest :) ?

David's comments are spot on, and what I was arguing when the announcement about the new connection scheme was first announced. I think I'll personally survive without a refund, but customers should have the right to receive one upon request. As much as I respect the guys, Refractive's attempts to brush off people's requests, and force a silly connection scheme upon paying customers, shows their immaturity as a company. Saying things like, "Yo, chill bro. I trust the guys." is completely missing the point.

browsing the forum, I just read this new information few minutes ago :

Code: Select all

However, we are developing a new secure solution to enable mobile use of OctaneRender® v1.0+, without the requirement of an internet connection.
That's a very good new.

I hope it won't take too long. Can we expect it before end of the year ?
