I have been trying to render a scene that is generally small, but has a large number of plant instances scattered using the Octane scatter obj. When I hit render, it goes fine for about 4-5 frames, then crashes, giving me the attached bug report. Anyone have any ideas? I can't decode what the bugreport says, so if any Octane gurus have some insight that'd be great. I suspect it's memory, but I've rendered much larger scenes no problem.
System info:
16GB RAM
Intel i7 6700k
GTX 1070 (8GB)
GTX 1060 (6GB)
In the Octane settings I have both GPU's set for denoiser, allotted 14.5GB/16GB RAM, and left ~150MB GPU headroom. Kernel settings are the same as what I use on most projects and what has worked in the past.

To perform a clean installation, please follow these steps:

And enable Denoiser only on 1070.

I don't see crash on octane.dll and seems like a crash on plugin level.
You have 16gb ram and you may be on out of memory. What's total triangle count for scene and objects?

Hi,
please, open the scene, then go to c4doctane Settings/Others tab, and, at the bottom of the panel, enable all the Log option checkboxes:

Then, load the scene in Live View, then in Picture Viewer until crash, and share the c4doctanelog.txt file that you find in c4doctane directory, or in the path specified in Settings/Others panel, thanks.

Poly count for the scene is about 2M, and about 2000 objects.aoktar wrote:I don't see crash on octane.dll and seems like a crash on plugin level.

Alright, I did that (after doing clean install of graphics drivers). Got a few more frames before crash, but it still crashed. It is a memory issue as I thought, and it says something about "render" vs "editor" subdivisions, but in all of my forester objects both parameters are equal. Any thoughts?bepeg4d wrote:Hi,

Hi,
please, try to render the scene at half resolòution.
You have only 16GB of RAM, and seems that they are not enough for that scene/resolution.
