Hi,

I just wanted to share my opinion for Octane.

I'm a C4D user, and for me this will be the only one and last year I'll be an octane user.
God damned... except when it's installed, this plugin is so painfull to install. Sometimes here, sometimes there.
There is a new version ? Cool... god damned I forgot how was it difficult to understand why the install is not working ? Standalone version ? C4d version ? Which Subscription for what ?
Ho man, it's looking like there a new software called "Sculptron"... lets try it... Ho man where can we find the install ? It's looking like there a topic but not clearly any link to download it.
Every thing you want to try, you need to look where it is in this old style website with millions of pages.

The plugin and the team himself is cool... but man... it's so hard to find something clear !
Even Houdini is clearest ;)

Thanks and see you.

The Octane application goes in the Applications directory.
The Octane plugin folder goes in the C4D Plugins directory. (The appropriate location for this has changed once, thanks to Maxon.)
Remember to remove the resources that don't apply to your version of C4D from the plugin.

That doesn't seem all that complicated for someone who does 3D animation.

And download links are always at the end of the first post of any release thread, here is the direct link to Sculptron installer:

I don't know where you are coming from... I could make a big list of improvements for Octane C4D but installation is not one of them, it couldn't be easier just download the file and drop it into the plugins folder.

Just look at the massive messages about these problems... or missinformation, or whatever you call them.

Thanks for the info, but I allready tried to put the plugin in the plugin foldre. Must be something else and I spent enough time on it every time to be ... a bit tired of it...

I don't do best things that this software but I just explained that, time after time, we can see a lot of message always around the same problems.

Cheers

It most likely not working for you because you put the Octane folder in 2 location. You most likely have it in the C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D R21\plugins and then you put it where it suppose to go C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MAXON\Maxon Cinema 4D R21_64C2B3BD\plugins

One version overrides the other.

You should always put the plugins via opening the preference folder from cinema => Edit=> preferences=> Open Preferences Folder at the bottom. Copy and done. Couldn't be easier.
