Hello guys !

I have a question. I am starting a new job in few month where peoples work usually on Mac OS environnement due to specific softwares like Sketchapp for UI design. As a digital art director I'll do both 3D motion and UI design with Sketch (that only exist on mac).

What do you think is the best setup ?

- 1 Mac with Octane render working on mac OS with RTX 2080ti in an eGPU ?
- 1 Mac with a windows bootcamp with egpu rtx 2080ti ?
- 1 small Mac to run the sketchapp photoshop etc + 1 killer PC on windows ?

I am afraid to work with octane on a mac because of the Cuda driver and the Apple politics about Nvidia.... Do you think it will be a pain to get update on that mac setup ?

I personnaly prefer to work 3D on a PC... but sketchapp will be the problem.

Thanks in advance !

Thank you so much for the link ! I'll try to get a macbook for the UI specific tool and mobility + a homemade solid GPU workstation for 3D and motion....

Hi,
if the Mac is from 2017 or older, install High Sierra with CUDA 410.130, and Pascal GPUs in eGPU box, RTX GPUs are not supported under Mac.
If the Mac is from 2018 or newer, the only solution is Bootcamp +Win 10, or Ubuntu 19.10, but you can also use RTX GPUs in eGPU box.
ciao Beppe

Yeah how smart, do that and forget about updating your software.
Man go PC + Windows and save yourself headaches.
Also there is sketchapp alternatives for windows:

Adobe XD - https://www.adobe.com/products/xd.html
Figma - https://www.figma.com/
vectr - https://vectr.com/

why bother with 2 systems...
