Well, doubleclicking works on Linux too, atleast I know it does on Ubuntu

in console:
cd to the directory
./octane

The file must be ofcourse executable, if it's not then do; chmod +x octane

Is your Linux distribution 64 bit?

And why do you bother with some specialized distribution, rather than using a probably more user-friendly (and supported) one, like Ubuntu?

indeed, there are a lot of linux users in graphics shops that don't know unix, vi, sed, awk or regular expressions ;)
we try to keep things as simple as possible for everyone.
