Well, doubleclicking works on Linux too, atleast I know it does on Ubuntu
in console:
cd to the directory
./octane
The file must be ofcourse executable, if it's not then do; chmod +x octane
yellow dog linux for cuda

Is your Linux distribution 64 bit?
