Hello. I am rendering a landscape with animated trees, spread with octane scatter.
When i try to render the trees with a shadowcatcher, i find the ground does project its shadow over himself, and i find impossible to render a proper layer pass with the trees and their shadows alone for later compositing.
I have tried everything i could figure out, and the "layer ID" method, which i though should be obsolete since it was used in 2.X version...
Can anybody tell me something about this? I would just have the effects and shadow of the scatter object over that ground plane, without it (the hills, holes...) projecting its own shadow over itself...
Thank you very much and sorry about my bad english.
Cheers.

Please avoid to use the Shadfow Catcher, that is from v2, and use the Render layer technique instead:

In this way you have not to change the materials assigned, and you can work with groups of objects instead of materioals.
