I posted about this originally in the C4D page, but this is a problem that persists in all versions of Octane (even 2019) with Adaptive Sampling. Would really love some clarity/fix on this because this is an annoying issue that's I've encountered since V4:
I'm having some really frustrating issues with Render Layer 'Black Shadow' and Adaptive Sampling being enabled when rendering. Black Shadows layer is always noisy and it's only clean when I disable Adaptive Sampling. AS is a really good and time saving feature to use so I would really like to know if this is just a bug or if I'm missing something. I've attached a sample scene below that shows what I'm talking about.
I'm on:
C4D R20/R21
Octane 2018.1.3 (Also tried 2019)
Windows 10 Pro
64 GB RAM
2080 TI, 2080, 1080 TI
All updates are current.
Thanks!
Seun

Hi Seun,
thanks for the report, I can confirm the issue, but it is not plugin related, it depends from the core SDK.
I’m going to forward your report with scene to the core devs.
Thanks again for your collaboration.
ciao Beppe

Thanks, Beppe! Would really love to see a fix for this soon. I have a job that I need to use Black Shadows on, and it's just not practical to go without Adaptive Sampling.bepeg4d wrote:Hi Seun,
