I'm doing some experiments with animated volumetric ground fog at the moment, and in order to actually render this correctly in Octane (in Lightwave) and have the animated procedural textures for density update on every frame, I have to enable the "Update Volumes" option in the render target. This works, however it's hugely inefficient as (as far as I can tell) it forces *ALL* volumetric objects to be reloaded. Which is a pain, as there's a couple of large static VDB cloud objects in the scene too, which means longer initialisation times at the start of each frame.
Is there a way to tell Octane to only update volumetric objects which animate - either manually or automatically? And if not, could this be considered as a future feature? (I wasn't sure how to submit a feature request otherwise!)
Feature request - per-object controls for updating volumes
