if I connect a float value to a universal camera and save my file and then re-open it, the connection is gone.
This is in all the 2019 versions.
Thanks. Yes it's a known issue with the camera architecture, note that the value is collapsed into the corresponding pin so you won't loose the value, but the connection to the external node is broken.

We are working on a new version of the universal camera with a static set of pins for all the modes and it solves this problem.

Ah thanks, nice to hear that you are solving it already. Our problem is that we are using our own 'alembic to octane camera node' (see screenshot), this sets the camera's: potion, target, up vector, focal length and focal depth. This is very handy because we can animated the camera in our 3D package and have all the nice camera controls in octane. That is why it is a problem for us that it loses connection when batch rendering or when we open our files.

A other problem with our 'alembic to octane camera node' is that we do not have camera motion blur when we use it. Is this something that can also be fixed?

Just FYI - I see this phenomenon many times in 3D apps. Sometimes there is an auto exposure at work that gets deactivated by the presence of additional lights, like, it is actually not making the scene darker, but more accurate.
Other times, it may be the light bounces fight each other, for dominance, where only 1 can stand tall, as victor.
Who will win? And who will fall.....?

Hi otoy,
can you train your AI more to denoise specular light reflection especially when DOF is used. The image attached is before denoising but denoiser make it look patchy

Hopefully we will see 7 frame temporal denoising for animation like Disney has https://youtu.be/eGAjsSNtX6E?t=388

Thanks

The denoiser works very poorly with hot spots in the bokeh on specular or glossy mats.

Rendered volumes in 2019 are different from 2018. This is with "Emulate old volume behavior" option in kernel settings.

Hi Octane Team,

Any plans for adding ACES to Octane?

Cheers

It was a limitation at some point but it has been fixed and it should work in the next release.
