i feel thats a workarround. but if you wanted to tint a root of the hair and not PROJECT onto it like a solid object. as it usually done with Hair and fur plug ins all over the 3d world.
i mean that a hair maintains the pixel color at root level all throughout its length.
what, when coimbined with the gradient would get a more robust support of hair as ornatrix.
in the lastest release they stated that they are trying to get a more consisnt support for the hair plug ins.
in my case what i also see is that there is not control of the root-to-tip width . its constant
