Good evening (o;

Just out of curiosity....

Why was a free tier blender 2.80 released first before any commercial release for the paying customers? And why Windows only?

Is there any ETA for a commercial blender 2.80 release for Linux?

thanx in advance

is it possible to have the zip file as installer?
Blender RC3 is obsolete and I'm testing the 2.8 final and also the 2.81

this is a stupid test to understand how Octane for Blender works.
To enable the denoiser it has to be composited.

I found the follow issues:

while the viewport is rendering launching at the same time a full render hangs Blender.
Sometime killing the Octane Server helps.
Linked external collections aren't rendered in the final render. They are rendered only in the viewport.
As you can see in this test the car rims aren't rendered.
I noticed that the processor uses a lot of resources, it doesn't happen with Cycles or AMD Pro Render.

egpu GTX1080ti (already tested with Cycles also on big scenes)
Windows10 pro
Mac Book Pro i9 late 2018 32GB

Wel need to complete the Octane for Blender implementation (Hair support and Motion Blur are not supported yet, among other features) and work on stability.

Internally we're working with the latest officially released Blender 2.8 version, used to compile the custom build that can be used with Octane.

The Octane integration will be updated each time a new official Blender version will be released (2.81 should be there in November 2019).

Remember to set the Preview Pass Type (normally set to Combined) to Denoiser Beauty, then it will be visible in the viewport.

That happens because turning off the Octane Preview is needed before launching a render. This will be fixed in the next build.

I'll check that! Thanks!

In which situation? Not sure that's a bad thing anyway.

Hi,

I think that the Intel denoiser works better than the embedded denoiser available in Octane (Nvidia Optix?)

I leaved the default values.

I'm testing the experimental 2.8.1.2. There are a lot of things very useful, drag copy color, shift multiple selection of collections and the Intel denoiser in the composer.

regards

The Octane AI Denoiser is developed by OTOY, has nothing to do with Optix.

I need to test the Intel Denoiser, but it looks like you can use it in Octane anyway, which is a good thing.

In some cases it works the same or better but in some worse. Depends on a scene.

I am trying out the new octane for blender 2.8. What I noticed is that I cannot get the "effect alpha" within transparent materials to work. I enable both the effect alpha on the seperate materials and the alpha channels in the render settings. Am I missing something or is it not supported yet?
