Octane Blender 2018.1.2 and 2019.1 RC3 are missing option for Thin Wall in both the Specular and Universal Material shaders (Thin Layer is available in the Specular Layer node though).

First off, I made one mistake: Thin Wall option to material shaders was only introduced starting with Octane 2019. You can read more about it here:

viewtopic.php?f=33&t=70971

Essentially, it treats geometry as “infinitesimally small” so specular material does not produce any refraction. This option helped me out tremendously on a cosmetic component that had a clear plastic outer hull around the main inner jar. It allowed the logo to show through more clearly and gave better definition to the very edges of the object (probably not a fully unbiased render but it worked for me!).

As for Thin Layer – that is the same thing as Thin Wall but for the Specular Layer node (for some reason they call that option by a different name on the layer node).
