is there a way to smooth across normals? using imported vdb file.

ray epsilon is not gona work . Am I missing something? the smooth option in the material seems to have no affect.

thanks, but no real reason to now, this method doesnt look like its going to work. Im trying to get a realflow simulation of a creek into a pretty heavy scene..... Octane can load vdb's, but if i go that route, the vdb file size for the detail to be retained in the creek is insane. using a mesh sequence would produce the best results, but that would add days of render time for Full scene reloads in Octane. Any Ideas on how to approach this?

Ok so I might end up using this this method after all. Tweaked some settings for the vdb and got the file sizes down. Main thing is the smoothing in octane not working. It’s not a vdb file in lightwave, it’s being imported directly into octane,. Is this suppose to support smoothing?
The smoothing could work, but the problem can be that each big not smoothed polygon is made with a bunch of smaller coplanar polygons, so in this case the full smoothing is not possible because it only happens in the border of the big polygons. Perhaps Octane has this limitation while rendering VDBs ... It is hard to say without taking a look at the object.
