is there a work around via OSL currently? i have to say i'm no programmer, so any hint into how to use those is very welcome!

Is there something that the falloff node and a side projected gradient won't do for you, as far slope and altitude goes? The general philosophy of Octane shading seems to be, "we'll give you the basic functional building blocks, you assemble them as needed," as opposed to giving you pre-built, more specialized tools.
