+1000 for this...

I love the fact that you can now isolate glare to only the brightest pixels - but we need what's shown in the video, diffraction effects, aperature maps, lens flares etc etc

Please update the post-processing side of things, these effects greatly enhance realism of renders, bringing them closer to reality...
+1000 to...nice...maybe on OSL :) I'm still think the one for Arnold would be great on it better then this http://zenopelgrims.com/zoic/

Please fix this so if a slave dies a master PC continues rendering and a slave can reconnect and join rendering again. Currently if slaves dies that's it. Especially in the middle of the night hours of idling computer time.

Thanks
Hi Coilbok,

this the Beta I don't think they completely made work the network rendering, I was confused with the previously message about Max, I'm also curious, We don't have this problems our Maya Plug as Master control 4 slaves with Standalone when we have slaves dying they are back and help the Master on anytime is working Maya Plug and Standalone. I don't know by 3DSmax I didn't tried the Beta but the releases made for production looks like working.

Cheers,
JO

Thanks! Maybe it is Max plugin

For me saving a 16 Bit image causes XB2 to crash....

Anyone else seeing this?

AAAAAAAH! :(
I brought in a Daz avatar with complex Daz hair and it annihilates the up-sampling speed gains.
If bald the character renders 1080p in like 3 seconds....
But with the hair, 20 seconds!!!

Hair really is the Grim Reaper of render engines! :x

EDIT - so I lowered the Opacity channel, as the hair has Transparency Layers, which made the hair look more blocky, but Octane loved it.
Render Engines really hate navigating light through fine hairs don't they! In fact, with same hair I could pull what was a 20-second render down to 8-seconds by reducing the fineness of the Opacity setting
Anyway, up-sampling is now plowing through it like a Champ! :D

Fast rounded edges seem to be broken when using the geometry "merge unwelded vertices" option

By the way, can we please make ACCURATE round edges the default, rather than FAST? It really works a LOT better.

I'm also noticing artifacts in the new rounded edges.

Here is an image comparing octane 2019.1 XB2 (top) vs modo 12 (middle), vs vray next (bottom).

It can look worse depending on lighting and zooming too:

I really hope you can sort this out. We have been waiting for ages to get better rounded edges, and while this is a lot nicer now, I would like it to be as good as modo and vray.

This definitely looks like something that needs to be fixed.

Thanks for reporting it.

Otoy- do objects imported in FBX or Alembic arrive in with any then-assigned 'Octane X-Y-Z world coordinates' once in the Octane viewport?
Would there be any way to view these coordinates and then match them, X-Y-Z?

THX!!!

Edit- basically, would like to in-Octane reset an object’s ‘center’ so that once moved into place, in Octane, I can reset this new point as 0,0,0 in its XYZ Transform.

Thin Film doesn't seem to work for me - tried a couple of scenes and no luck - can somebody else confirm this please.

Tried the same scenes in V4 using the old method and everything is fine.

First image is V4, second is 2019XB2 (not XB1 as file name suggests)
