Hi All,
when I start a render to disk, the Houdini console show me this message:"OCTANE API MSG: can't activate device 3, because the maximum limit of 2 GPUs has been reached"

I've 4 nvida geforce GTX 1080 and in the info on the bottom of the render window I see that the local GPUs are only 2.

In the "Octane Plugin Options" I've checked all the 4 Gpus.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you!

Paolo

Hi,

What kind of license do you have? Currently, the Octane Studio subscription licenses only support 2 GPUs. To render using more GPUs you need an Octane Enterprise type license. If you already have an Enterprise type license, please check that you have the Enterprise plugin installed. Even with an Enterprise license, the Studio plugin builds only support 2 GPUs.

Thanks,

Hi Juanjo,
Unfortunately I've a "Studio Subscription Licence".

I didn't read about this limitation...

Do you Know if it is possible to upgrade my license, or I've to buy a new one?

Thank you.
Cheers.

I'm not sure. Can you please send an email about this licensing upgrade question to the support team? [email protected]

Thanks,

Hi Juanjgon,

I have the same problem as Luther76, but in my case I own an enterprise license.

What do I have to do, to use all of my 3 GPUs?

Thanks for letting me know.

Sorry, are you working with the enterprise plugin? If you install the studio plugin, you are going to have these kinds of restrictions. You can check the installed plugin in the plugin "About" window.

Thanks,

Hi Juanjo,

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, it seems like I've got the Studio version of the plugin installed. But I looked on the Octane download site and couldn't find an Enterprise download for Houdini. Is it hidden somewhere else?

It should be there, but in any case, you have all the download links for any plugin version in the releases subforum:

Hi Juanjo,

Thanks for the link. I downloaded the Enterprise version from there and now Octane uses all 3 GPUs when I'm inside Houdini.

It's weird, that this doesn't show up on the regular Octane download page, but then I remember this isn't the first time I had this issue. Should've looked on the forum first. You live and learn :D
