We have noticed other users using also your same EGPU solution that have come across the same issue. It seems that the driver does not report the GPU as an RTX device.

We will investigate but it may require NVidia's support so will post it here when there's any feedback.

Thank you.
I'm very excited for the performance I could achieve with the egpu and Octane Render, I hope this issue will be solved.
Thank you so much.

Otoy - referring to this NVidia post, where it talks of upcoming NVidia driver that will enable DXR on Pascal cards:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/ne ... ming-soon/

Look at bottom where it says "Driver Support for GeForce GTX: Coming Soon"

Will we get a faster 'mode' for the DXR-enabled cards cards? (ie a DXR on-off)
Curious how the turning on of DXR will amplify Octane bench scores.

THX!!!

Actually, the NVidia website I mentioned states that:
"When DXR is enabled by a Game Ready Driver, targeted for April, the supported GeForce GTX graphics cards will work without game updates because ray-traced games are built on DirectX 12’s DirectX Raytracing API, DXR. "
So, will this April driver enable the DXR-eligible (Pascal and later) to then work with what is called "RTX-on" in this benchmark?
As in, it could be called "DXR-on" for all cards (RTX and DXR-elligible...)

If not, can you make so that it does take advantage of what will be the "DXR-on"

THX!

In the meantime, scores look SIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!!!!!

In Unreal Engine Land, the staff said this when asked if the 'RTX' realtime-raytracing would work on soon to be DXR-enabled cards:
Unreal Engine does not contain any RTX-specific code. Our ray tracing implementation is working on top of DirectX Raytracing API (DXR), which is hardware-agnostic.

When we launch the engine in `-dx12` mode with ray tracing enabled for the project, we always attempt to initialize the DXR back-end (we ask the API if it's supported on the current system). So if any hardware vendor releases a driver that implements DXR, things will *just work* with no code changes on the engine side (other than any bugfixes that may be required when running on hardware that was previously untested).
So, like games which also will not need any specific update, maybe Octane Bench will just also recognize DXR-eligible Pascal cards as RTX-eligible without Otoy needing to do anything?!! :P

I wonder if anyone could advise me on which version of Octane to go with?
I want the standalone renderer, just not that interested in the plugins.
I've just bought two RTX 2080ti's as part of a new workstation.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are my RTX's not properly supported yet in 4? If I get Octane Render 4, will I just be trapped into a piece of software that isn't being updated to better support my GPUs?
I find the whole licensing page a tad confusing. I'd just like to have the standalone render, fully updated but it looks like the annual versions are the ones to get the updates?

Hi,

I just noticed that Nvidia has released a new version for Linux (430.14), does this support the RT cores? Thanks,

Jason

Hi everybody,
Is there any Information on when a release version of Octane 4 with RT core support drops? I'm considering to buy a 2080ti soon and I'm wondering wether it might be smart to hold back and wait for the price to drop a little, since AFAIK you can't make use of it's hardware accelaration right now and it might not be worth it yet
