Hi there,
I’m wanting to set up a 2nd PC as a render node to render with Octane Network Render. I wouldn’t do any actual work on that PC - just use it as a render slave.
I’m wondering if I’m able to do this with a single Cinema 4D Studio license and a single Octane All-Access pass, or if I require a different license?
Many thanks for your help.
Best,
Phillip

Hi Phillip,
with v4, you need an extra Standalone license for the Slave machine, or a Studio license with plugin, and use only the Studio Standalone in the Slave.
With 2018, the best option is to purchase the Enterprise All Access annual maintenance bundle for 199$, since Network rendering has been disabled in Studio 2018 versions, and the bundle gives you an extra Standalone license for network rendering with one Slave machine.

Hey Beppe,
Thanks for your reply. Sorry, to clarify I already have the 2018 All Access annual maintenance bundle, so that should allow me 1 slave? That's good news!
Do you know if this slave needs to run Cinema 4D, and if an additional Maxon C4D license would be required, or a Maxon render node license?
Thanks!
Phillip

Hi Phillip,
if you already own the Enterprise All Access bundle, you just need to use the Standalone Enterprise 2018 installer also in the Slave machine, and use the daemon installer there.
While with v4 you need to install the Standalone Creator version that you find in the Standalone release notes discussion:

Please, have a look at the documentation on how to setup Network rendering:
http://www.aoktar.com/octane/HowtoMakeN ... ering.html
Always firstly enable Network rendering from Live View, and then from Rendering Settings for final rendering.
Maxon c4d is not necessary in the Slave machine.
Also remember to disable the Minimize Network Traffic option in Kernel settings.
Happy Net Rendering,
ciao Beppe
