Hey all, I thought I would post a work in progress.
This is actually for a competition.
You are supposed to render a car to match the photograph below so it has max realism.
It doesnt have to have everything in it thats in the photo but the car has to be convincing.
The model supplied is very slightly different from the car in the pic.
I post the reference and my first attempt. It needs some work yet.
Feedback welcome.
I was a little naughty cos I put an Octane logo in it but the prize is actually to win Keyshot.
You all know as Octaners I dont want to win just enter to show Octane off :)

Great work so far, but it is quite obvious it's still a work in progress.

ok had a little time today - sorted out the tail light meshes a little better although the emission isnt right yet.
messed with the wall making the shadow still not quite long enough.
toyed with a road solution - just a place holder texture for now.
made GT3 a little smaller - proportion not right though  had to see it in context of a render...
only a 300 sample test run this time
hey its a work in progress ;)

progress update time.
I think this is getting near to what I will do.
Comments appreciated - good and bad :)
I tried to make some interest in it so that is why the arrows go the wrong way ;)
It looks a little better viewed full size I think - you can see more detail in the lights

Thanks, I'm getting there...yeah, thats quite funny  I might use that idea somehow (if thats ok) I was wondering what to do about the driver... :)

I need to work on the road texture some I think.
Attach are some doodles. I dont know what the rest of you people think but as far as I am concerned one of the really great things about Octane is the ability to move around and find other shots - even accidental ones  This suits my skill level well ;)

Edit: yeah ok I'm just spamming the forum now...Octane is fun :)
I'll come back when my entry is done...
