V4 leads to overbrights in picture viewer

...though live viewer looks like intended, the exports via picture viewer are much brighter, contrasty. i tested through render settings and found "float tonemapped" gives my old results in picture viewer... but not in the exported image, it still is blown out! why are the images looking so different?

EDIT: Render Settings/Octane/Main/Render Buffer Type had to be set to "Float tonemapped" instead of "Float linear". But shouldn't that be identical to Camera Imager set to linear?

I have the same Issue. The bright values differ between Live viewer and Picture viewer. I render to multipass exr and the whites burn out.

I have linear in Camera Imager with gamma 2.2 and Linear multipass with tonemapped.
