what GPU for GUI

Is buying GTS450 an overkill for GUI? Especially because it's a 2 slot card and taking away space... Although it's a cheap card, what would you get if you were buying now?
Intel i7 860, 8Gb RAM, Gainward GTX275 896 MB
Octane 2.2b, Cuda 3.0

Probably it is. Although it depends on how much power do you need in your modelling aps, or other aps in general.

I will also have to buy an additional card for the GUI, and was mainly looking at GT 220s
