Sorry, im a dumbass and cant read instructions. I only had to remove .cdl64 files for other C4D versions from the plugin folder and it fixed the freeze (so far works on 417.71 drivers too).

Render region and film region workf fine?

1. Both modes consider a limited number of samples that are specified in the settings.
2. do not show the total number of samples
3. sometimes work fine

Hi there Ahmet.

I encountered a problem when opening old scene files that have been saved with Octane 3.07 or earlier.
The BSDF Flag, that should be set to "Octane" for compatibility reasons is not set at all in the materials, causing them to look different in the renders and therefore are not consistent anymore with the renders made with the older scenes.

I recorded a small video to showcase the problem :-)

Download the Material Scene to investigate:

It should be fixed on 4.02.1-R2. Are you seeing that in this version?

Yes all fine! Nothing changed there since a few versions. Maxsamples goes until 1000000 without stopping in region mode. Film region will stop at Maxsamples.

Nice but interesting. Since some versions, you have not to remove other versions. Because plugin avoids to load other plugin files else of matching one. There should be an issue but I didn't changed anythings there.

Hi Ahmet. Thank you for your answer. The Octane Version I was doing the Video with was the 4.02.1-R2
I redownloaded the latest Verion of Octane again and freshly installed it in the C4D Plugins Folder to be sure I was using the latest built.
If you download the scene that I linked in the original comment and then go to e.g. Metals and choose Copper. You can see that the BSDF is not assigned (Empty field, as in the video).

Thanks for your time and looking into this!

Cheers,
Raphael

@saifdean93

You probably downloaded the wrong installer. You have to download the specific installer that corresponds to your license type or you won't be able to log in.
