Hi guys,

Is there someone who use mining rig for rendering in Octane 4?

1.) I have 8x 1070 GTX rig and I am thinking what to do with it.
I wanted to use it like workstation, but it is very slow when I change something in scene because of pci-e 1x connection.
Is it good idea to use it as render slave?

2.) Can I use it like render slave with one subscription licence on my workstation?

I will appreciate any advices,

Thank you

good day,

You can use it as render node if You get additional (standalone licence) for node.

speed wise You would not get full performance of those cards, but You can try to make sure You have fast CPU and fast network not to loose even more. Overall it's not the best idea to use mining rigs as render nodes, but it works. However if You can add more RAM, upgrade CPU, have faster lan, that might be well worth the investment.

what is Your OctaneBench score at the moment?

Hi Glimpse,
Thank you for your response.
There is win10, 32 GB RAM, i5-7500 CPU @ 3.40GHz and 1GBit ethernet.
I have 1025 score in OctaneBench 4.00

Actually that's rather average result You should expect from Your build - not sure if it's worth to push further.
