Hi all,
I'm a long time Poser user and know my way around the Poser material room but I'm brand new to Octane.

Has anybody tried using the RedSpec SSS shaders with v4.x?
I read through the SSS shader tutorial at Physicalc, but when I tried it with a "stock" DAZ V4 texture that was auto-converted using the plugin the tutorial seemed pretty dated.
Either the plugin had already done the conversion and/or the node parameters no longer corresponded with the v4.x nodes

Other than the Physicalc tutorial, are there any skin shader tutorials, specifically how the kernel choice effects the rendered shader.
Do ppl keep different shaders for each kernel? or do you learn with experience to just tweak each shader as needed?

Any suggestions or insights would be appreciated.
-Thanks!

Greetings, I've been using the RedSpec Shaders for quite a while with great success and enjoyment.. super easy to use and makes your models pop even more than just using octane alone... There are a few little things to get used to with some skins used with those shaders but once figured out, it's a breeze! Might as well pick up the hair shaders as well as those really make a difference again!

Cheers

same here. been using them for a while with octane now, and it makes a big difference + pretty easy to apply.

Sorry for getting in so late on this.
The shaders are fully compatible with Octane 4.0 and require either the Pathtracing or the PMC kernel to be used. Direct lighting is not supported.

Thanks, pretty much have bought your whole line of shaders.
Been using the skin shaders to good effect, the hair shader is more troublesome.

That's great to hear - thanks for the support :)
What is it, that you're having trouble with, in regard to the hair shader?
