Octane C4d 4.02
Windows
Ive been building a Octane library for 2 years now, and ive never had any issues.
Materials in the Local DB that i have loaded a thousand times now come up with broken links with every image file. I check the path and the image file is exactly where it should be, but materials loaded from the LocalDB will not link them.
If I re-link all the files one node at a time then I drag it in as a new LocalDB preset, it still wont keep its links.
Is this a bug in 4.02? What has happened?
Cheers
LocalDB stopped working all of a sudden

That's right thanks! Btw could RyanSilva enlight what's the problem with some ss? I don't see any problems and I haven't changed anythings for localdb browser.TonyBoy wrote:Use 4.01 until Ahmet can work with a reliable SDK. He will download a new 4.02 when its ready.

Im not entirely sure it was 4.02 to be honest. The behavior may not have started until days after I installed 4.02, but I was working on a single project for a week with local textures so I may not have pulled anything from localDB.aoktar wrote:That's right thanks! I tested like this:
I create a new material
I add an image texture
I dragged it over to the LocalDB window (like I always do) and it adds the new material to the menu like normal.
I then try to download the same material from LocalDB (Attached Image)
It creates a material with all the correct settings, but none of the images textures are linked. (Attached Image)
Stranger still, all of the file paths in the Image Texture Node are also correct, but no images are loaded. (Attached Image)
If I reload the Image Textures, and try to put it back in the LocalDB and re-download it, I get the same problem.
I essentially cant get LocalDB to save or load anything correctly.
Thanks folks
Not sure but try with a saved scene. There may be path issue for nonamed project. Because extraction done to under of current directory.

It may be about user rights to avoid creation of files. Note that it's using different folder if you don't save scene.RyanSilva wrote:Good first thought!. That seems to isolate it.
If I use a saved project everything works. Creation and Extraction
Is it something in my settings? Or is it code?
Thanks!

The folder "AppData\Roaming\MAXON\Cinema 4D R20_4FA5020E\tex" is where ive always assumed textures associated with non-saved project are kept.
C4D defaults this folder to read only (attached image 2) . If you try to change that, C4D changes it back on startup.
I emptied that folder and tried to download(extract) a material into an untitled project. (attached Image 1) It seems the orbx files are extracting correctly and creating the images (attached Image 1)
Its that final step of attaching the images to the nodes its not completing.
Thanks
If you download materials from localdb with an unsaved scene and later you save it, then you will lose the paths. Because plugin will look to any directory under scene's dir and plus search paths of textures. Not to AppData\Roaming\..... directories. So please stop to try this and work on a saved scene.
