hi guys,
currently working on a bottle that rotates every now and then to reveal new labels. MB works just fine for all objects except for the water drops that I scattered across the bottle using a scatter object.
am I missing something or is it not supported? if not - any success workarounds anyone?
appreciate it! cheers!

Motion Blur for Octane Scatter Object

It's not supporting the motion blur if remember well.

man that's quite disappointing tho... you would assume that all native octane objects are supported. any workarounds? current state to object doesn't work it seems. is the mograph cloner the only other option?
It's not magically implemented by itself sorry. It requires a lot of work if possible. And that's not designed for replacing cloners. Maybe for scatter2 not now. Yes cloners are your friend when scatter is not ok.miroklasinc wrote:man that's quite disappointing tho... you would assume that all native octane objects are supported. any workarounds? current state to object doesn't work it seems. is the mograph cloner the only other option?

all right understood. that'll have to do for now! looking forward to seeing this implemented!
This issue bit me pretty badly recently. I ended up doing a separate pass of just the scatter objects with appropriate masking geometry, then using Real Smart Motion Blur in AE on just those elements. I was hoping to at least get the motion vector Info Channel from Octane, but nope, they aren't visible there, which does make some sense. I could also have done a multi-frame motion blur for those elements, but that would have been overkill for this particular shot.
Major bummer, since Scatter is otherwise extremely useful.

I too hope that scatter will support motion blur in the future though its important to remember that this module was a special "bonus" for us C4D users developed solely by ahmet and basically from scratch, which is amazing already. if MB can be added at some point it would be perfect though!frankmci wrote:This issue bit me pretty badly recently. I'll try to find some time to do man! Hope people understand the workload on me. Thanks for appreciations.Studio21 wrote:I too hope that scatter will support motion blur in the future though its important to remember that this module was a special "bonus" for us C4D users developed solely by ahmet and basically from scratch, which is amazing already. if MB can be added at some point it would be perfect though!frankmci wrote:This issue bit me pretty badly recently. I didn't realize this, being new to Octane for C4D. It's a wonderful addition, even as-is, Ahmet!Studio21 wrote:

So we are now well into version 4's release and continued development...
I'd like to know if this issue has been resolved please... seems like a glaring oversite which has been around a while.
Scatter Object and Motion blur - functioning or not please?
Update:
So when motion blur is switched on, the movement of the scatter object geometry appears shifted and detached from surface to which it is applied to.
I can see no way around this. Have had to turn off MB for these particular objects...
Thanks.
