Hi folks,
Just trying to figure out if I've got a hardware issue or a software bug, or if I'm just doing something wrong here, I wonder if anyone's having the same issue. I'm running windows 10 with c4d r18 and octane 4 using an old gtx 980 4gb and a gtx 1080ti 11gb.
I'm rendering some fairly heavy scenes with big fog volumes and most of the last few shots I've rendered which are similar have rendered fine. On this latest shot it will render the first few frames fine and then the render times suddenly triple. When I check GPU z to see what's going on the 1080ti is basically doing nothing - the gpu load is just hovering between 0 and 3%.
After a reboot the same thing happens - both GPUs render fine for a few frames and then the 1080ti stops doing anything. The software doesn't crash or anything, the renders just slow right down.
Any help from any of you clever peoples would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
One GPU stops rendering after the first few frames

Same thing here - 980 + 1080ti. On a Ryzen 1700x. Octane version 4.00.
All rendering fine at lower res then bumped it up to HD and it would render a few frames then stop. No crash, just stopped.
Watching the Task Manager whilst rendering, the 1080ti never gets above about 7% and the 980 is on 0%. I’ve checked “Use all GPUs” in the render settings as well.
As I speak (after a reboot), it’s now rendering and has done 17/68 frames, so fingers crossed, but the task manager is still saying 0-7% on 1080ti, 0% on 980. Is the task manager not reporting correctly, or are the cards not being used that hard?
That being said, the frames are being rendered (kitchen interior at HD), so not complaining as such, but it feels like I have to babysit the machine now.
Not much help to you, but you’re not alone. A solution/answer would be nice though.

There's render logs in Console window. At lease open and paste here the content, please.
